Exercises in limbo
2020

I drilled a shelf into the ground
and patched its wounds with paint

a paint that hardens with air but
softens with water
akin to eggs
that tremble in wind but stiffen in fire

or cement that
crystallises

I am awake
only partially, I suspect
possibly due to the brightness of the full moon
possibly due to some batteries I consumed
possibly due to my love for indeterminacy

which shifts
as quickly
as silently
as prudently
as day slips into night

Night into day

My coffee was lukewarm
this long morning —
I did not quite mind it.
